As a child and even into adulthood, I sometimes struggled to feel secure in my voice. This personal experience inspired my journey as a speech-language pathologist, a role I’ve been passionate about since 2008. This is my second career; previously, I worked as an editor in a quiet, predictable environment.
I have primarily worked in elementary school settings, but my experience spans a variety of environments, including early intervention, middle school, and skilled nursing facilities. Regardless of the setting or who is on my caseload, my focus is always on meeting the unique needs and interests of each client and student. Kindness guides everything I do.
For nine years, I have also supervised graduate student interns from San Jose State University, Emerson College, Arizona State University, and San Francisco State University. I believe that modeling strategies and techniques is essential to help every conversation partner learn to communicate more effectively. Communication is a shared experience, and through it, everyone can grow, connect, and engage more meaningfully.
